Remember the deadline to order for February is Wednesday, February 17th!

As you know, our distribution used to be massive. Frankly, I was struggling to keep up. One month in the summer of 2008, we had several hundred customers ordering over 600 Signature Boxes (nearly 1000 total units with Specials included.) And then, our numbers started to fall. This was in part due to the fact that our site was maturing and the newness was wearing off. Then in early September of that same year, Gustav came calling throwing most of the community into disarray. It suffices to say that saving money on groceries was not a high priority. But after the storm, the numbers continued to fall. Why? Well, the food simply wasn’t as good it could have been or should have been. Even at a bargain price, people want good quality food. And that was the main thrust of our conversation yesterday.

In short, AFM now recognizes that they dropped the ball. They know the food was quality was below their previous standards and of course, below your standards. They did not speculate on the reason, but serving 500,000 units of food a month surely has its challenges and food quality is among them. But since the summer of 2009, they have reversed the trend. And we have noticed. Gone are Salisbury steaks and chicken backs and here to stay are beef roasts and chicken breasts. The quality has returned, and for that I thanked them. I also offered our appreciation for all they do. Everyone makes a mistake now and then. But only those who learn from it truly understand what it takes to make a quality product.

If you have not tried AFM lately, I challenge you to do so. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
